Women Unlimited: Dismantling the messages that erode our intrinsic value

The Utah Women’s Giving Circle invites you to join us for a special panel that will peel back the layers on the sometimes surprising messages delivered to girls from birth through adulthood and how you can empower yourself, your daughters, and the women in our community to challenge these limiting perspectives.


Lindsay KiteLindsay Kite, PhD – Co-founder of Beauty Redefined

Lindsay and her sister Lexie Kite are identical twin sisters with PhDs in the study of media and body image from the University of Utah. Together, they have presented a popular and empowering visual presentation on body image rooted in their master’s thesis and complementary doctoral dissertations to tens of thousands of people since 2009. They co-founded Beauty Redefined, a non-profit organization, to help people recognize and resist harmful messages about female bodies through online education, social media activism and speaking events. We appreciate Lindsay joining us to represent their important work!

Susan-Madsen-PhotoSusan Madsen, PhD – Founder, Utah Valley University’s Utah Women & Leadership Project

Dr. Susan R. Madsen is the Orin R. Woodbury Professor of Leadership and Ethics in the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University. She has been heavily involved for over a decade in researching the lifetime development of prominent women leaders and has published two books on her work. Dr. Madsen founded the Utah Women Leadership Project at UVU in 2013 and has released six briefs on the status of Utah women that are shedding light and driving change. In 2012 she presented at the United Nations in New York and Geneva on women, leadership, and education and was also an invited panelist at the New York Times. Susan was recently recognized as one of the “30 Women to Watch” in Utah.

Debra-DanielsDebra Daniels, LCSW – Director, University of Utah’s Women’s Resource Center

Debra Daniels has been affiliated with the University of Utah since 2003 and serves as the Director of the University of Utah’s Women’s Resource Center, Assistant Vice President of the Women’s Enrollment Initiative, and also as an instructor in the College of Social Work and the Department of Educational Psychology. Debra is a licensed clinical social worker and has been working on women’s issues in academic and community settings over her three-decade career. Before joining the University, she served in several roles at the YWCA for 11 years and was the Client Services Director at the Rape Recovery Center. She holds a master’s in social work from the University of Utah.

Annabel SheinbergAnnabel Sheinberg, MM – Education Director, Planned Parenthood of Utah

Annabel Sheinberg has served as the Education Director for Planned Parenthood Association of Utah since 2007. Through this work, Annabel has created opportunities for girls to become aware of and challenge disempowering messages within film and media, among many other initiatives. Annabel is the Chair Elect of the Association of Planned Parenthood Leaders in Education board, and the Vice Chair of the Governing Board for Salt Lake Arts Academy Charter School. She holds a BA from Williams College with a concentration in Women’s Studies and a Masters in Management (MM) degree from The Heller Graduate School at Brandeis in Child, Youth and Family Policy and Management.
